Niners Streak Continues!!

The Brownsville 49ers won their 7th straight Rock River North league game on Sunday to improve to a northern best 8-1. With wins over Slinger Sunday 8-5 and an 8-1 win over Lebanon Saturday the Niners will head into the all star break atop the Northern division by a half game over Rubicon.

Saturday saw the Niners head to Lebanon. Starter Sam Wilhlems was in complete control going 8 solid innings striking out 9 allowing 7 hits. The hitting of Jace Unrein (4x4) 2 doubles and a triple and Mitch Beau 3 more hits including a Lebbys sixth inning bomb led the way for the Niners. With the long ball the team won a delicious pizza which they enjoyed after the game.

Sunday's game was a bit tighter. Slinger stayed in the game and the Niners had to put the game away late after a 3 run 6th by the Stingers. Leading the way was long time captain James Goodfellow who was 2x2 at the plate with 4 big rbis. Beau chipped in another 3 hits and also tossed 8 solid innings giving up only 3 earned.

The Niners are back in action this Sunday at Juneau. Some of the team will be going up to Austin, MN this weekend to participate in the SPAM tournament with Kewaskum.

The all star game is Friday night in Watertown. John Cetnar is the lone Brownsville representative this year. Good luck John. He was chosen at DH/ Utility.
